Membership
Wildlife Advocate is an incorporated association with four types of membership:
- Ordinary Members: open to individuals applying for
membership in their own right – no supporting nomination necessary
- Foundation Members: open
by invitation to individuals nominated by two (2) existing
foundation members
- Affiliate Members: open to organisations established to advance the needs
of native wildlife ether directly or indirectly, whether in Australia or elsewhere
- Corporate Members: open to any registered business
with an interest in supporting Australia’s native wildlife
Ordinary and Affiliate membership is
FREE.
This policy reflects Wildlife Advocate’s appreciation to those already supporting Australia’s native wildlife in various
roles. That said, Wildlife Advocate appreciates all donations.
Foundation, Ordinary and Affiliate members will not have to renew their membership
annually. Membership will stay current until the member either resigns or fails to meet the
membership criteria.

Ordinary Membership
Ordinary membership is open to any individual who wishes to contribute to and support
the activities of Wildlife Advocate in ensuring that the needs of Australian wildlife are taken into
account in any decision by governments, landholders and the community.
Ordinary members are entitled to elect one of their number to represent them on
the management committee of Wildlife Advocate.

Foundation Membership
Individuals that have demonstrated a deep and solid commitment to Australian native wildlife and an
adherence to the strategic and tactical objectives of Wildlife Advocate may be invited to become a
foundation member. Foundation members are at the core of Wildlife Advocate and, as such, retain a
majority of the committee positions.
Foundation members are entitled to elect three of their number to represent them on the
management committee of Wildlife Advocate.
Why is a separate class of individual membership necessary?
In the past groups such as Wildlife Advocate have been infiltrated and eventually closed-down by more
radical subversive elements and/or government/industry stooges. The creation of a second class of
individual members provides a filter to ensure that only those individuals with a demonstrated
commitment to the organisation can get into a position to control its direction.
Affiliate Membership
Affiliate membership is open to any organisation established to advance the needs of native fauna
either directly or indirectly (eg. through the protection of native habitats) whether in Australia or
overseas. Typically, affiliate members will be not-for-profit community organisations/associations
such as wildlife carer or environment protection groups.
Membership of Wildlife Advocate enables environmental organisations to have their concerns raised on
their behalf by Wildlife Advocate in a confidential manner such that they need not be concerned that
their carer licence or government funding may be affected.
Affiliate member representatives are entitled to elect one of their number to represent them on the
management committee of Wildlife Advocate.
Do we have to be a Registered Environmental Organisation to be an Affiliate member?
No. Affiliate membership is open to any organisation established to advance the needs of
Australian native wildlife. Where an organisation is not registered with the Commonwealth Department of
Environment and Heritage they will need to provide a copy of their constitution/rules to support their
application for affiliate membership.
Do we need to have a separate legal identity (eg. be a registered association in our own right)?
No. Affiliate membership is available to branches of state/territory or national bodies (eg. a branch
of the NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service) provided that the representative from the organisation
is authorised to represent/speak on behalf of the local branch members.
We are a wildlife rescue service that is part of a wildlife park/sanctuary, can
we be an affiliate membership?
Yes, provided that you have financial and governance independence from the wildlife park/sanctuary.
However, if you are funded by the wildlife park/sanctuary you may have to join as a corporate member.
We are an organisation established to advance the needs of wildlife in another
country, can we be an affiliate member?
Yes, affiliate membership is open to any organisation that advances the need of wildlife native to
their country of incorporation, and to international organisations that advance the needs of wildlife
wherever they occur.

Corporate Membership
Corporate membership is open to any registered corporate body that wishes to support the needs of
Australian wildlife. Typically, corporate members are for-profit organisations or companies.
The Corporate Membership annual fee is $100.00 p/a. Corporate members
are listed on our website and all members are encouraged to support our
Corporate Members.
Through their membership, corporate bodies demonstrate their commitment to the environment and good
corporate citizenship. Corporate members will receive a certificate of membership they can proudly
display at their place of business.
To ensure that Wildlife Advocate is not unduly influenced by commercial interests, corporate members
do not have representation on the management committee of Wildlife Advocate.
